Adoptive and Foster Parents are required to attend an intensive training program called PRIDE (Parent Resources for Information and Development and Education)

PRIDE is a component of the Ontario Practice Model for the assessment, preparation and ongoing support of resource families, both Adoption and Foster. 

During the training, you will learn more about 
Understanding the needs of children

• Supporting relationships for children
• Connecting children to safe, nurturing relationships intended to last a lifetime
• Participate as a member of a professional team
• Understand the impact of positive, day to day experiences
• Opportunity to ask questions from experienced adoptive parents.  
• Learn about provincial resources available for support.
• Meet other prospective adoptive parents.
• Reinforcing a child’s heritage and cultural identity

SUPPORT

Ongoing support during adoption probation from the Adoption Coordinator. 

• Monthly support groups for Parenting after Adoption 
• Monthly support groups for Families Waiting to Parent
